Trauma-Informed Spiritual Direction (TISD)
Our Mission
We aim to repair both neighborhoods and families simultaneously. By redeeming families through high-wage trade training and reconstructing properties that blight local environments, we ensure that both people and places are restored to their full potential.
Our Belief
We believe that restoration works best when people, places, and families are repaired together, turning neighborhood blight into the stable foundations parents need to stay connected to their children.
Our Vision
We envision communities where overwhelmed parents and families facing instability have a fair chance to rebuild their lives, remain meaningfully connected to their children, and move toward healthier, more stable futures.
What Are the Problems?
The Private Court Service Desert
Families in state-funded DHS cases get caseworkers and support, but parents in private cases (custody, visitation, support) often get zero help, leaving them to navigate a confusing legal system entirely alone.
The Justice Escalation Cycle
We address the "spiral" where a simple problem causes a missed visit or shift. The court sees "willful neglect," leading to license suspensions, job loss, and unpayable debt, which can eventually lead to incarceration and or loss of the parent-child bond.
The Lack of Pro Bono Representation
In private family court, 4 out of 5 low-income parents are forced to represent themselves (pro se) in court without any guidance on how to organize documents or understand complex legal rules.
What Is Our Theory of Change?
We Restore Neighborhoods (The Arkansas Heritage Trade Academy): We use rundown historic landmarks as "living classrooms". We train parents in high-wage heritage trades—like historic masonry and timber framing—so they can fix community blight while earning the income needed to support their children.
We Navigate the System (The Arkansas Navigator Network): We provide "Administrative Translators" who help parents organize court papers, track deadlines, and create verified "Compliance Packets" for judges. This replaces courtroom hearsay with neutral, irrefutable facts.
We Neutralize Barriers (Transit, Housing, and Services): We provide the physical tools for success through our Transit & Mobility Solutions (rides to work and court) and Housing Stabilization Group (moving families from crisis to permanent homes).
We Practice Stability Before Accountability: We believe you cannot hold a parent accountable for rules they have no physical way to follow. We fix the "engine" of their life first—housing, transit, and jobs—so they have the actual capacity to meet the high standards the court requires.
We Heal the Human (Trauma-Informed Spiritual Direction): We address the moral injury and deep grief caused by family separation. Our spirit-centered recovery curriculum helps parents reclaim their inner authority and identity after being "erased" by institutional systems.
Support services for mothers facing overwhelming life, family-court, financial, or parenting challenges. We provide emotional support, navigation assistance, and stabilization-focused resources for mothers working toward healthier futures for themselves and their children.
Support services for fathers navigating custody, visitation, child support, separation, instability, or rebuilding relationships with their children. Our goal is to help fathers remain connected, supported, and moving forward.
